Meet Ailsa Young
Painter and Illustrator
Ailsa Young was born in Virginia, USA in 2001. She grew up split between her birthplace and Scotland until 2020 when she moved from her hometown to Dundee to attend the University of Dundee. She graduated in 2024 with a BFA(hons) in Fine Art. Her degree show, "Greetings From Birdland", reflected on feelings of growing up and migriation through the folklore of a surreal bird-human world. She then continued her education with a MFA in Curatorial Practice, during which she interned at the V&A Dundee and curated an award winning exhibition "Design Can Be..." which demostrated strategies on introducing complex design topics to audiences in museum and gallery settings.
Currently she is exploring her creative practice with a series of works inspired by Anne Carson titled "I do not want to be a Person".
